How to Choose an AI Visibility Platform for B2B Brands

Short answer: choose an AI visibility platform by asking eight questions, and weigh two of them above everything: does it show the exact sources the AI read, and does it track the same fixed buyer questions every week? A platform that passes those two will change what you publish. One that fails them is a vanity score.

The two questions that decide it

1. Does it show the sources? AI assistants that use live search cite the pages they read. If the platform shows you those pages, every lost question comes with an answer: get on that page or beat it. If it only shows “named / not named”, you are flying blind.

2. Does it ask the same questions every time? B2B buying questions are specific — “best X for a 50-person team that integrates with Y.” If the platform rewrites questions each run, the trend is meaningless. Fixed questions, weekly, same wording.

The other six

  1. Does it separate brand questions from buyer questions? Brand questions (“is Acme good?”) flatter your score and bring nobody new. The score should count buyer questions only.
  2. Does it show who was named instead? Your AI rivals are often not your Google rivals. You need the names.
  3. Does it check whether AI can read your site? Blocked crawlers, missing llms.txt and no structured data quietly kill visibility. One of our own sites was blocking AI bots without anyone noticing.
  4. Does it turn findings into tasks? A list you can hand to a marketer: listings to get, pages to write, facts to add.
  5. Does it keep history? You will want to show the quarter's movement, not today's number.
  6. Can you add several brands or product lines? B2B companies often need a tracker per product, each with its own buyer questions.

What we see on our own B2B-style sites

  • The questions make or break the data. Generic category questions produce generic answers full of large vendors. Questions written in your buyer's words produce answers where mid-size brands actually appear.
  • Sources repeat. The same handful of comparison sites and communities show up week after week. That is good news: the to-do list is short.
  • Entity confusion is common with short names. If your brand name is also a word or a command, the AI may describe the wrong thing. Company facts on an About page fix it faster than any content.

Red flags

  • Guarantees. Nobody can promise an AI will recommend you. Honest platforms say so.
  • Scores without sources. A number you cannot act on.
  • “Optimise for AI” tricks. Hidden text, AI-targeted prompts in pages, bulk auto-generated articles. These get sites penalised and do not work.
Safe, white-hat practices versus risky tricks

How we answer those eight

ListNetworks shows the sources for every answer, asks a fixed set of ten questions written from your site, scores buyer questions only, names the rivals, checks whether AI bots can read you, keeps history, and supports several brands on the larger plans. It tracks Google's AI with live search today; more engines are being added. Details on the how it works page, plans on pricing, and a free report for your brand from here.

Questions people ask

What is the single most important feature?

Source visibility — seeing the exact pages the AI read before answering. Without it you get a score with no way to improve it.

Should the platform track every AI assistant?

More engines help, but one engine tracked honestly with sources beats five engines with mentions only. Add engines once you act on the first one.

How long before results show?

Listings and new pages take two to six weeks to appear in AI answers. Any platform promising days is guessing.

Does B2B need different questions than B2C?

Yes. B2B buyers ask longer, comparison-style questions with budgets and integrations in them. Make sure the questions are written from your real buyer language.
